Hafizah Journey

         I’am hafizah, a 4^th years student majoring in Physical Education at the college of Teacher Education. I have been studying at the Islamic University Of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari for four years, I was given the opportunity to participate in the SEA Teacher Program, Organized by SEAMEO, at University of Northern Philippines

My Journey

        On October 27,2024 it was scheduled for me and my fellow student Mey,Maya,Luthfi, to travel from Banjarmasin to Manila, specifically in the City of Vigan. We are very fortunate to be granted the opportunity to             participate in the Sea Teacher Program, 10^th Batch organized by SEAMEO. During this program, we will observe teach and learn at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), Philippines, for a duration of one month. The primary purpose of this program is to share and adapt to the diversification in aspects such as culture, tradition race, language, nationality and teaching experiences.

 University Of Northern Philippines

        University of Northern Philippines (UNP) is located in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Name of the President UNP Erwin F Cadorna. Vision : a globally recognized university in a Heritage City by 2030, mission : to produce globally skilled and morally upright professionals instilled with rich cultural values. And the motto “Together We Soar Higher. Together We Build Character. Together We Create Future”

        On October 27, 2024 is our first trip from Banjarmasin to Jakarta, then to Jakarta to Manila on October 28, 2024 when we were in Manila we were picked up by Mr. Dr. Jose Picahy and his youth, then we went straight to Vigan in the middle of our trip to have breakfast and lunch at jollybee and then we immediately continued our journey,  In the afternoon we stopped at a restaurant and we tried Halo-Halo ice cream, after that continuing the journey, we arrived at the University of Northern Philippines at night, greeted by new friends from other universities along with Buddies and Kuya.

        On the next day, october 29, 2024, the first time we came to Calle Cristologo and exchanged money with my buddies from philippine, then we ate at the mang inasal restaurant, the first time we tried food in the Vigan Ilocosur area, grilled chicken along with soup with sour and salty flavors.

        On the 4th day, october 30, 2024, we attended the welcoming ceremony for the arrival and release of students from other universities, during the event we saw a dance from UNP students from the PE department, and we also performed a gymnastics from Indonesia called Gemu Fa Mi Re. And my friend handed over the memories of ma'am ratna to UNP representatives. we

use sasirangan clothes typical of South Kalimantan, and other student  use traditional clothes and typical of their respective regions.

        On the 5th day on November 1, 2024, the first time for us to go to the public market accompanied by Kuya Laurenz and one of our buddies named Joshua using three cycles, we bought the ingredients food for our stock for the first week at the balay, we bought rice,vegetables, fish and onther spices.

        On November 4 until 5, 2024 My friend and I met our cooperating teacher for the first time in the teacher's office, his name is Maureen Lou A. Aragoza he is a PE teacher, he told us a few things about the lesson plan we are going to do and what class we are going to teach, we were told that we will teach at the high school level, this is the first time we are teaching at the high school level. We got material about cheerdance, this is also the first time we teach about cheerdance because when in Indonesia we didn't learn about cheerdance or dance, we only learned about gymnastics and other sports.

        On the next day we met again with the cooperating teacher to make a lesson plan, in my opinion the lesson plan there is not much different from in Indonesia in sports subjects, it's just that the lesson plan at UNP is more detailed. First we were given an example lesson plan, then our cooperating teacher explained how to make a lesson plan and what should be filled in the lesson plan. Then we make a lesson plan after the cooperating teacher gives directions. We work on the lesson plan in the teacher's room while being supervised by our cooperating teacher. 

One Ilocosur One UNP

        On the afternoon of the 4th we went to calle crisologo to watch a dance light festival, along with Kuya Laurenz and Sir Joey and friends from other universities. This is also the first time I watched the dance light festival, I was very impressed because the appearance of the participants was very proud and their clothes were very beautiful decorated by the lights, and there was something more interesting that we met Geburnur Vigan, Mr. Geburnur Ilocosur Vigan was very good, first we just sat on the side of Calle Crisologo,  then he ordered the restaurant clerk to give us a chair for us who are from Indonesia, he also bought us drinking water and bought us snacks while watching the Dance Light Festival. After the festival ended, we took a group photo and we were introduced by Sir Joey that we are students from Indonesia in the Sea Teacher program. He said a word that I remember until now " One Ilocosur One UNP"

  

        On November 9, 2024, all students went with Sir Joey to a museum called "National museum, Ilocosur Regional Museum Complex" we were told by Sir Joey the history in the museum and told several things about the war that occurred in the Ilocosur area, as well as a prison filled with many people, and also about how sugar is made and other things,  Sir Joey told me a lot of other interesting things, I saw a lot of different things that I had never seen in Indonesia.

On November 10th, we held an Indonesian tradition competition, because on the 10th it coincided with Indonesian Heroes Day, we played 3 games from Indonesia which were played by several groups, all Sea Teacher students participated in the competition not only students from Indonesia, Thai students also participated in the competition and some student friends from the Philippines.

On the next day, on November 12, 2024, we met with the cooperating teacher again, to check the lesson plan and PPT that we made for the preparation of the next day for the teaching session and the final demo, thankfully, there was nothing to be improved, because according to our PPT and our lesson plan were very good, we were just waiting for signatures for the approval of the lesson plan.

On the next day, November 13, 2024, we made observations that there were 4 classes, with different topics, we saw our friends who were UNP students in the final demo with their characters and ways, each of which had several differences that we saw.  and we will apply what we think is good and we also get input from the cooperating teacher, and ma'am Maureen also asks us how we deal with problems when there is a problem while teaching, he gives an idea when a problem suddenly occurs we have to prepare for the solution of the problem that will occur when we teach, when we give an answer ma'am Maureen is very happy with our answer which he thinks is very good and satisfied, Ma'am Maureen was very happy because we knew how to overcome the problems that might arise.

On November 15 we participated in an event about cultural teaching, and we also learned dance with friends from UNP, we were also ordered to perform dance.  We also tried to eat typical food – typical of their culture and Sir Dem also gave us a food called babingka, the taste is almost similar to the potato bingka in Indonesia.

        On November 15, 2024 in the afternoon, after the activity we went to the balay to change clothes, first we went to the jolly bee for dinner, after dinner we went again to the dancing fountain to watch the water dance with a combination of colorful light dances accompanied by a song.

        On November 16, I and some friends from other universities watched a music concert, which was located at the back of the UNP campus on the football field and running field. There are so many people and I really like the song sung by Skusta Clee titled Umaasa. Me and my friend virtual we tried a kebab meal

          The next day, November 19, 2024, we asked Ma'am Matilde for signatures accompanied by some, Ma'am Matilde saw our lesson plan and he gave a little advice on the children's final assignment to make cheerdance movements using yells. 

        The 20th This is the day that we have been waiting for and we are looking forward to, because this is the day that we teach, I got a 12th grade called Laplace, I am very happy because the students in the laplace class are very active and smart, when the discussion session I give the students money for the active ones and can answer. And gave some snacks to appreciate their creativity. 

        After the class was over we took a picture together, ma'am Maureen and ma'am Matilde were very happy with the way I taught in class.

        The last day we were in Vigan, on the 23rd, in the afternoon, ma'am  Maureen and Ma'am Matilde took us for a walk to the zoo I was very happy, because one of my hopes was fulfilled to see tigers, the zoo is very large and many animal animals that I have never seen in real life, I am very happy and enjoy the moment. Then after going to the zoo we went to try a typical food there was an egg with vegetables, eaten using sauce or vinegar, I forgot the name of the food, but it was almost similar to martabak in Indonesia.

        In the evening we left the vigan and went to manila, on that night ma'am Maureen and my buddies named Ervin, kim and cris came to balay to say goodbye with us, they gave us a farewell gift.

        On November 24, 2024, we arrived at the UNP staff house in the morning at around 5 a.m., we rested there and we also had breakfast there, after breakfast we prepared to go to the camp in Manila, after going to the mall we returned and we had lunch that had been provided by Sir Jose, then we prepared to go to airport terminal one,  at night at 9 pm we flew to Jakarta and on November 25, 2024 at 00.00 we arrived in Jakarta, then we departed again from Jakarta to Banjarmasin at 9 am. we arrived in Banjarmasin at noon at 12.50. My journey is complete.
